2023 Parent Meeting

Parent meeting with our Activities department on October 4th at 6:30 PM in the CHS Commons. Booster Club meeting to follow.

2023 Season Information

The first practice for our 9-time championship wrestling team starts September 27th! Less than 2 weeks from now. Please make sure you have all paperwork and fees completed in www.planeths.com.

All "Athletic" forms need to be completed by the athlete and a parent (even the Football and Hockeye forms, you have to say you are not competing in those).

You will need wrestling shoes, shorts, a t-shirt and headgear for practices.

A current physical must be on file in the PlanetHS system, as well as the fee paid.

I will be given a list each day of who has completed the paperwork and can be at practice. If you aren't on the list, you can't be on the mat!

Our practices will be from 3PM to 5PM every weekday unless otherwise specified. You can pick your athlete up at 5:20 in front of Colony High.

If you have not done so, please fill out the "Wrestler Contact Form".

2021 Season - Be Ready!

The season will start on March 15th, and end May 21-22 with a state tournament.

Make sure all paperwork is done in www.planeths.com, a current physical must be on file and the $100 fee must be paid on SchoolCash.

A new participation form must also be filled out, specific to the wrestling season. Please turn this in to Coach Hopkins.

The athletic directors around the state are creating a schedule right now. We will have the opportunity to travel to the Kenai Peninsula and also Fairbanks (no Anchorage events).

We will be having mostly duals, so no long days in the gym until Regions and State potentially.

I'm excited to get the season started and defend our state championship from last year!

Practice Starts TODAY October 2nd!

I’m excited to get started, and want to make sure everyone has all their paperwork in order to participate the first day. To be able to practice you will need:

  1. To sign up for wrestling on PlanetHS  (https://www.matsuk12.us/Arbiter) this link includes all the instructions and a link to get registered
  2. Pay the activity fee @ SchoolCash Online (https://matsu.schoolcashonline.com/)
  3. Take the IMPACT test on Tuesday Oct. 1st @ 2:30pm in room 0018 (downstairs) with Mrs. Johnston
  4. Have a doctor’s physical on file that does not expire before 12/21/2019

Every season I have to turn wrestlers away from the first practice because they do not have their paperwork done beforehand, please don’t let that be you this year.

Make sure and bring wrestling and running shoes to the first practice, as well as shorts (no pockets) and a t-shirt. Wrestlers are expected to be in Coach Gravley’s classroom #1076 @ 2:35 dressed out and ready to practice.

The first gear store has been closed and the order is being processed. There will be a second gear store opening soon, check your emails for updates on this.

If you have not signed up for Remind to get my messages, please do so by:

  1. Parents only:  text @ded6eb to the number 81010
  2. Wrestlers only:  text @knightswr to the number 81010

Finally, eligibility is at the quarter for all wrestlers! Grades will be submitted on 10/16, and I will be notified on 10/21 who is eligible and who is not. Make sure you are keeping your grades up wrestlers!

I look forward to seeing all of you wrestlers on Wednesday!

Coach Hopkins

PS  If you are in another sport currently, please make sure you sign up for wrestling in PlanetHS so you show up on my roster, and we’ll see you after your current sport ends.

** If your wrestler is not participating this year or you received this message in error, please reply to this email to let me know and I’ll remove your address from Remind and my email list

Practices starts in 7 days! Hopefully everyone stayed active this summer and has joined a fall activity at Colony.

Incoming freshmen and transfers to the district, make sure you take the concussion baseline test with Mrs. Johnston.  IMPACT testing sessions are set for 9/24, 9/25, 10/8 and 10/96 at 2:30 PM in room 0018.

It's never to early to sign up with ArbiterAthlete and pay the wrestling fee with SchoolcashOnline either. Don't forget to have a current (does not expire before 12/15) physical on file.

2014-2015 ASAA 4A State Champions!

2014-2015 Region Champions!

2014 4A Dual Champions!

What a season, and what a state tournament! The Colony Knights were down 46.5 points going into the second day of the state tournament and came back to win the team title. It was a total team effort.

I was extremely impressed with the mental focus each individual had during each match to make the comeback possible.
